New Season Starts 17 September 2017

The 2017 Ribble Valley Rambler service will start on Sunday 17th September 2017 and run through on Sundays until 13th May 2018.

Due to engineering works in the East Lancashire area a number of Sundays are affected and a replacement bus will be operating instead of the train. Please see the timetable page for full details.

DalesRail Brochure Error & Sunday 28 May 2017

Please note that an error has been found in the printed and downloadable versions of the DalesRail brochure.

Due to essential engineering works in the Blackburn area the DalesRail service is being operated by replacement bus between Preston and Hellifield on Sundays 25th June & 2nd July 2017. It has been decided to cancel all walks on these Sundays. The walks on Sunday 9th July 2017 have also been revised.

Sunday 28th June 2017 sees five guided walks led by the Lancashire Rail Ramblers.

SWALEDALE

Walk 1 – A Strenuous B walks of 12 miles Alight and return Ribblehead.

Coach to Healaugh –Thirns – Hind Gill – Arkle Town – Arkle Beck – Langthwaite – Windegg Lane – Windegg Vein – Peat Moor Hill – Stony Man – Moresdale Road – Hurst Moor – Roan Beck – Hall Farm – Hind Rake View – Fremington Edge Top – White House – Reeth – Coach to Ribblehead.

Walk 2 – A Moderately Strenuous C walk of 11 miles Alight and return Ribblehead.

Coach to Gunnerside – Gunnerside – Moor House – Forefield Rake – Fore Gill Gate – Thirns – Skelgate Lane – Reeth. Coach to Ribblehead.

Walk 3 – A Moderately Easy D/E walk of 8 miles Alight and return Ribblehead.

Coach to Reeth – Reeth – How Hill – Ivy House – Blue Hill – High Harker Hill – How Hill – Grinton – Reeth. Coach to Ribblehead.

Walk 4 – An Easy F walk of 6 miles Alight and return Ribblehead.

Coach to Isles Bridge – Isles Bridge – Low Lane – Browna Gill Bridge – Stubbin Farm – How Hill – Reeth – Coach to Ribblehead.

Alternative walk for those not wishing to use the coach:

Walk 5 – A Moderate D walk of 10 miles Alight and return Kirkby Stephen.

Kirkby Stephen – Stenkrith Bridge – Ewbank Scar – Ladthwaite – Fell House – Little Long Rigg – Fell Lane – Winton – Hartley Fold – Kirkby Stephen.

Due to the on-going electrification works between Preston and Blackpool North the service will start at Preston a connecting replacement bus from Blackpool North, with an earlier than usual departure time (see the timetable page for full details).

Sunday 12th March 2017

Sunday 12th March 2017 sees a normal Ribble Valley Rambler service running between Preston & Hellifield.

Due to the on-going electrification work between Blackpool and Preston a replacement bus service will operate from Blackpool North to connect into the train at Preston.
